Video Consultations

We offer temporary video consultations services in some cases to reduce the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 and protect both patients and healthcare providers.

Video calls are made on an Australian Government service available at https://videocall.direct/raby

What are the eligibility criteria and limitations?

The main criterion is that you have had a face-to-face consultation at Raby Medical Centre in the last 12 months and have a Medicare Card. That is, we will not be able to offer video-based consolations to new patients unless the below exemptions apply.

The above requirement is not applicable if you are

  • A child below 12 months of age

  • Homeless person

  • Living in COVID-19 impacted areas

  • A patient receiving an urgent after-hours service

  • A patient at an Aboriginal Medical Service or an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service

When will video consultations be available?

Raby Medical Centre already offers video consultations. We will continue to offer this service until Australian Government withdraws support or its deemed safe to travel for medical services.

While face-to-face consultations are also available, you are required to use telehealth services if you have a fever, cough, sore throat or difficulty breathing or have visited a local hotspot.

How can I register for the video consultation service?

The consultation can be carried out using telehealth services, especially video consultation, if you meet the above eligibility criteria.

You will have to make the regular appointments online as per usual. Please contact our Receptionist on 98206292 advise if you like the consultation to be administered over a video call.

How is the video call performed?

Once you have advised the receptionist, please join and wait for the video call a few minutes before your appointment time. You can do this by visiting https://videocall.direct/raby on your mobile phone, tablet or computer.

You will be able to talk to the Doctor when they join the call.

It’s important that your device allows for camera and microphone access. Please note that there is no need to have a separate app. Further, we will not be able to carry out video calls on other apps such as FaceTime, Skype, Zoom, MS Teams, WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Facebook, etc

How much will it cost?

Video call-based consultations are bulk billed and do not carry out of pocket expenses.

Can the Doctor still request a face-to-face consultation?
